about

Hi, I’m Megan. I’m an M.Sc. student studying cognitive science of language at McMaster University. Using data from a 1.2M-token corpus of life stories collected before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, my thesis explores changes in linguistic patterns (specifically, syntactic complexity) over the course of the pandemic, and the socio-emotional and cognitive factors that might contribute to these changes.

Areas I’m interested in include cognition and learning, complex systems, information theory, intelligence, machine learning and AI.

Additional interests include philosophy of science, quantum physics and cosmology.
